" THE CALL HOME"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"WAIT, LOVE, PRAY...FOR A HOME"
I spent the first half of the year just decluttering and reorganizing my home and studio...that took me away from the easel but for the last two months I have been back at it and painting for homeless animals. The oil above is part of the RAINBOW BRIDGE series and is entitled "The Call Home" it is available and will help Friends of Bristol Animal Shelter a no-kill facility in Rhode Island, USA.
details are found on my website http://www.carolchretien.com
I have been tied up with the stuff of life lately and haven't had the time to hole up in the studio to paint at the easel ... I fell into a rut of doing a lot of the same things over and over. Then, out of nowhere, I decided to do something I NEVER do ....draw for fun and exercise.
The absolutely beautiful and professional work I have seen by artists here in pencil has no relation to the picture of the Ziegfeld Girl posted above. This drawing was a "doodle" and just some play time for me that was so relaxing and calming to do.
I love the work of the artists posting here and it is a nice place to see new ideas and just appreciate the work.
Life gets in the way sometimes of the routines we are used to but that can be a good thing too!
Dance of the Seven Veils
That was the title this rose suggested to me. It just reminded me of a dancer twirling in gossimer. Building upon my love of the look of translucent watercolor, while being an oil painter, this painting is oil on canvas. (Sold)
I painted it in thin glazes adjusting the colors subtly to get a glow and create the light effects.
While I do many more paintings of animals, because my passion is helping the neediest animals in rescue with donations from my sales of my work, I have found that other subject matter also has been well received.
In the last four years the small group of artists known as ART HELPING ANIMALS has donated over $70,000.00 to assist rescues from coast to coast. This is primarily from donations from our artwork sales. I am a founding member of that fellowship of artists.
Our work can be seen on our site http://www.arthelpinganimals.com and we represent ourselves on The Daily Painters Gallery with work posted daily.
