I have not written a blog post for ages because I have been very lucky to be incredibly busy drawing.
This drawing proved to be a real test as it included three beautiful boxers.
Look

As I am right handed, it is best to work from left to right to avoid smudging

Happy so far :)

Moving onto the second dog was nerve wracking enough

but a third meant that I had a lot to lose if it went wrong.

It didn't :D
The reaction from the owner was more than I could have hoped for and was a wonderful end to my first ever triple portrait.

Last year I bought a set of Derwent Drawing Pencils and pastels and a recycled paper sketchbook. I immediately fell in love with this medium and the soft images it produced. :)
There is something very romantic about sail boats especially the old fashioned style. Last year I took photographs at the round the Island race and this was my favourite boat. I think it works well in this medium......don't you?

I draw using Derwent watercolour pencils but sketch out a rough graphite outline first as I can get carried away once I start using colour.
It is so important to get a good start so you have a good feeling about your work.
I had a good feeling about this one :)

I had a better feeling when I finished. It is always my aim to learn and improve and I think that is happening.
Would love your opinion ..... please.
