X-Ray Photography

Eleven years ago I spent an afternoon in an outpatient x-ray lab taking x-rays of flowers.  For some reason, I have taken an interest in reviving my old project.  I'm having them scanned in and I even hope to sell them on total art soul!

The technician didn't know how to take flower x-rays so we had to experiment.  Every pic, we had to load a cartridge and wait for the x-ray to develop.  We really had success.

Images have black backgrounds that can be inverted in Photoshop.  Here is an example of that:

I will be posting more on my site http://www.artisabella.com as soon as I can get more scanned in!

A Drawing-a-Day for 30 days

I decided a few years ago to try and make a game with myself, that I would make a d drawing a say for 30 days.  I sat down for about 15-30 minutes a day and drew abstract images.  The results were amazing.

It became a meditation.  I began clearing out my mindMy design skills became sharper.  At first it was hard to sit down and do a drawing a day as I am not the type who does art everyday.  I get spurts and a lot of time I have to wait for my paintings to dry before I can put another layer on.  I got more passionate about my drawing.

Later, I transferred the designs to my first round of oil painted jeans.  You can find them on my website artisabella.com under the galleries - jeans.

The question is, why did I stop, and why didn't I do them again.  So I am going to challenge myself to another round of drawing a day for the next 30 days and see what comes up.

Creating Moon Light Photography

Moon light photography is a pretty interesting form of low light photography that I stumbled upon recently.  It is interesting because the colors that come out of it are true color without the sun's yellow rays.  Also, the shadows are really neat.

This one was on the golf course I live on in October.  It was one of the brightest moons in a long time.

These are clouds in the sky in the same shoot.

Creating moon light photography requires a full moon or near full moon. It isn't as easy as it seems.  There are some requirements for this type of photography.  First, a digital SLR camera with manual controls of F stop and shutter speed control.  One needs to experiment to get the right combo. Hence, a tripod is necessary. You must stay up late or wake up in the middle of the night when the moon is overhead in the sky. Focusing is hard to do in the dark.

This week I shot some more shots this week:

The shadows here are more prevalent.

Good Luck!
