X-Ray Photography

Eleven years ago I spent an afternoon in an outpatient x-ray lab taking x-rays of flowers. For some reason, I have taken an interest in reviving my old project. I'm having them scanned in and I even hope to sell them on total art soul!
The technician didn't know how to take flower x-rays so we had to experiment. Every pic, we had to load a cartridge and wait for the x-ray to develop. We really had success.
Images have black backgrounds that can be inverted in Photoshop. Here is an example of that:

I will be posting more on my site http://www.artisabella.com as soon as I can get more scanned in!

I really like taking time lapse photography. I think its fun to play with light and the lens and make patterns and abstractions. The camera becomes like a canvas with artificial light becoming the paint strokes. How you move the camera and the lens creates colorful line work.

I started back doing this with film a long time ago back in Chicago and now have worked up with my Nikon D60 that has a great light sensor. Back in the day, you couldn't instantly see your photo and it was expensive; thank goddess for digital!

I decided to stop fiddling with this painting and call it ready :) But if my patience allowed me to I could keep adding details in the face forever...but that's part of why it would never get ready...so I've forced myself to finish his jacket, shirt, tie and hair today. I've also duplicated the skin layer and added an overlay to it for the sake of deepen the shadows a bit. In comparison to his dark jacket he was very pale before I did that. And we don't want him to faint now, do we? Didn't think so :p
Anyway...it's been fun :D I might do it again some time ;) Thanks for your patience and thanks for following this progress :D
