It is the eye of the photographer that sees the potentials of a scene, and it is the mind of the photographer that creates the photograph before it ever is captured in the camera.

I love that.

I believe that is true - I see what I want before I leave the house - and since my landscape work depends on the whims of nature, there is some chance involved. My suggestion to any photographer is find places you love and return over and over.

Sometimes, it is just a aa walk in the woods or the shoreline or the mountain ridge and sometimes it is heaven and you are there to share the experience.

I'm always conjuring up images in my mind before I capture that final photo ... I always try and see something a little more special, no matter how ordinary the scene ...

I guess that's what I do with my paintings too. I do a lot of photography to get reference for my work. It's all macro but I try and find an interesting element within the subject that I can highlight.

What an awesome quote Cathy! Love that! I think it's so true...I was just telling a friend of mine a few weeks ago when we were out on a small stroll and shoot that i kept seeing the shot I wanted in my eye and mind, but the camera wasn't capturing it...wondering if anyone else has that issue sometimes too Anyway, that's a beautiful and inspiring quote! thank you!
