Total Art Soul - for artists

Hello Everyone
I am a textile artist and clothing designer living in the mountainous Kootenay region of BC in Canada. I have a passion for our natural environment and the outdoors. I enjoy working with a mixed media of traditional and innovative textile design techniques on natural fabrics like cotton, linen, wool,hemp and silk. I use dye, shibori, screen printing, painting, sewing and piecing to transform the cloth into garments and accessories, housewares and bags.
I am pleased to participate in 'Total Art Soul' with you.

Cathy I seem to be mixed media in almost everything I do. All new materials and techniques draw me. When I painted I worked mostly in oils but also integrated cera cola, scratchings, paintstick, pastels, drawing etc

Gosh, I'm just like that, always looking for new materials I can use. I'm not using enough of a variety so in my next series, I really want to play with that. What is cera cola?

Cera colla is a wax medium made from a mixture of beeswax, ammonia and cottage cheese, believe it or not. It can be mixed with paint, transparent or opaque and scratched into. It's wonderful.
