I think if I ended up in an old watch repair shop or similar that no one wanted, I would be in heaven

Watches always fascinated me, not only for the sake of making other objects from them, but as the measure instruments they actually are as well.
There are pocket watches that not even I would break into and pick into pieces since they have historical value etc. It's darn difficult to know what they are worth and IF they are worth anything, but I had to learn how to find the numbers and letters inside and look it up in books. Otherwise I wouldn't have a clue what I'm taking apart
So in a way I can understand your ex-father-in-law, Cathy. Especially if the watches are still in working condition.
The only pocket watches that I dismantle are broken and rarely worth a dime.
