HI- I USUALLY CREATE AFTER I HAVE PLAYED THE OBOE MANY HOURS- it is a preperation so that often times i do not need to think- the ideas and forms and colors flow- because i am in different state of mind

I could never play any reed instruments, could never get them to make a sound. lol just ended up red in the face. give me a flute or a trumpet to play, much easier

i agree- reed instruments require a big dedication and lots of practice- one must stay in shape and then do the daily practicing.but its all good preperation for being a good artist-mind- body-spirit

I have my saxophone stood by my side. When I'm in the studio painting, I often pick it up and play a while. It means I can be more objective about my painting too once I return to it. The only problem is that my studio is not very sound proof so I'm not sure what the neighbors think! Not that they are so close.
