There is no greater "fire hose" to the creative moment that knowing that once you have unpacked your materials and worked on your piece that you have to pack the whole show back into the box or cupboard. After about 30 yrs of doing this, and in the process missing many an inspirational monement, I finally stole 3x3 meters off my garage and built a studio. What a blessing this little space has become; it has made all the difference to my evolution as an artist.........which reminds me I have canvases waiting ....in the space "where this man creates"....

P.S. Woman more than welcome

I was fortunate enough about 2 years ago to get in on the ground floor (so to speak) of a project to renovate an old 1895 Masonic Building into a Creative Arts and Events Center. The new owner of the building had a vision, and assembled about 6 local artists to help with feedback and input into the building. What emerged was a fantastic and beautiful building with artist studios on the 2nd floor - all of which have been occupied since day one and now have a waiting list. I don't pay very much as being part of the original 'crew' and have settled into a beautiful art studio beyond what I ever thought I would be able to afford or have. I just LOVE it and it has definitely taken my work and my creative freedom to a whole new level. I now use my 'studio/basement' space at home as a prep and experimenting lab of sorts and do all of my painting and finishing in my studio.

Hi thornwoodsstudio!

I agree, with the "fire hose" metaphor!
We all need our own space to create : )
I have somehow managed to steal our entire studio apartment...
