Here's a curious fact about Pablo Picasso. His real name actually contained 23 words.

Picasso was baptized Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Martyr Patricio Clito Ruíz y Picasso. He was named after various saints and relatives. The "Picasso" is actually from his mother, Maria Picasso y Lopez. His father is named Jose Ruiz Blasco.

He's often called Pablo Ruíz Picasso, isn't he? In giving him all those names it seems his parents must have thought he was destined for greatness.

Yes, he was David. When he was born, they actually thought he was stillborn. The midwife just left him on a table because she thought he was dead but a family friend, who I think was also a Dr, happened to be there. He was smoking a cigar as many did in those days and he blew smoke in Pablo's face which made him gulp for air and he started breathing. Maybe they thought it was a miracle so hence all the names.

For many people, the first thing that comes to mind when Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec is mentioned is his short stature. It's often thought that it was simply a result of accidents that he suffered in his teens, but apparently not. Many in his family experienced birth defects partly because of their practice of intermarriage - his grandmothers were sisters, his parents were first cousins, and his father's sister was married to his mother's brother. At least one of Henri's cousins was of similar height. And it's almost certain that Henri had pyknodysostosis, a inherited disease that causes the arms and legs to stop growing. Other symptoms include the failure of the fontanelles to close up on the forehead – hence he is usually seen in a protective bowler hat.

Very interesting, I didn't know that his deformities were due to inter-marriage or why he wore a hat. I thought he was disabled due to a horse riding accident.

I love these. Will find some more soon.

Here's some facts about Michelangelo.

Michelangelo was the famous artist that painted the ceilng of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. Today everyone calls him Michaelangelo, but his whole name was Michangelo Buonarroti. When he was alive, many called him 'Buonarrati'.

The Sistine Chapel paintings have made Michelangelo famous for hundreds of years, but he considered himself a sculptor first.

He loved marble and thought about the rock in a very unusual way. He often told friends that he felt there was a figure already in the marble and his job was to carve away the part of the stone that hid that figure.

Michelangelo's figures always look like they were caught at the moment of an action. His figures look like this because Michelangelo put a twist at their waist, neck, or arm.
