Stay Wet palettes? I never even heard of those. Will have to look out for the equivalent here in France. Thanks so much.

They're wonderful. They're actually called Sta-Wet palettes by Masterson. They also have a sponge that you can wet and put underneath their paper for acrylics and it will keep them so that you can work with them for several days. Just brilliant.

That sounds great. I throw so much paint away. Thank you for these wonderful tips.

I think the sta wet palettes are an excellent idea. I throw away paint almost every time I set up to paint, because some paints dry out altogether, others form a skin. I l also like the idea of freezing my palettes . I still run across old tubes that are too messy to use. Also I have had entire tubes of paint harden in the tube and there is nothing to do but toss it. I have been trying to use up my old paints but there are so many, and you can only use what your painting calls for. lol
I think I am going to have to take a break from painting for a while. I have to decide with my doctor whether to continue taking medications that have really unpleasant side effects, or have cervival spine surgery to remove arthritis that is pinching the nerves that go to my arms and hands. I have been dealing with it for quite a while, the symtoms and side effects from the meds are making it
clear that it`s time do something about it. So I will probably wind up with even more dried out tubes of paint and decaying paint tubes.

Just an abstract idea, but, what about getting new mileage out of the older paints by doing something like mixing them with gesso for a new canvas prep, or even mixing with modeling paste for some funky texture effects? Might be a way to breath some new life into the old pigments.
