a motorboat.

When I decided to try this one, my friend Bea and I were discussing how to get the extreme darkness into the painting. It was a heavily wooded area, and the lake was so calm that it made beautiful reflections. Bea got an idea and it worked perfectly. She took my canvas outside, and spraypainted the entire surface with black acrylic paint. This allowed me to use transparent paints right from the tube for the water. I have always liked this painting and it looks great when it has a light above it.

It's a really beautiful painting. As I paint macros, I've never really explored painting water, although often toyed with doing water drops. I think Bea had the perfect idea when she said to spray the canvas black. It's made the painting come alive. The only time I attempted water was when I did my zebras painting a few years back but it doesn't look anywhere near as good as this.

Your water looks good. It is a very nice painting.
I haven`t tried many macro`s. I did do a couple as an excercise many years ago. I got the picture from a Bob Ross instructional book. ALthough I love his paintings, I am not comfortable with his method of covering the whole canvas with white liquid paint. It takes me a lot of time to do 1 painting. People who can crank them out in an hour or so amaze me. Bea and I attended a BIll Alexander painting seminar in Dearborn, Michigoan several years ago. He had an enormous canvas, and used big paint brushes and whipped out this beautiful painting in just about an hour. All the time talking and explaining what he was doing. It was a very interesting day.

I bet! I'm always amazed at people who can produce an amazing piece in record speed. It takes me so long before I'm happy.

I love your shoreline painting. My eye travels into the deep recesses of the forest. I think it creates interest. What is lurking there? Love the colors and textures as well
