I've sent glass before and it's been OK but it is a worry. I didn't know about glass not being insured. When I pay for extra insurance at the post office, they've never mentioned that. I think I'll have to take a look at the small print!

I think there are some carriers who will cover you, but you will pay a lot more. The majority have a disclaimer about glass, so you're only really being covered against it going missing. So nowadays, I tend to just have basic insurance and fingers crossed! I do send a lot out though and on the whole not had too many problems.

I agree that problems are rare. In the last couple of years I've sent over 1000 items internationally and only 1 got lost, 1 returned as PO did not read address correctly and 1 took 3 months to get to US. I think that's not a bad record at all.

Anything below about 16 x 12 inches before mount/frame, which I think is quite a common size for me. Above this size the expanse of glass can be quite fragile and needs care when packing. A sheet of polystyrene across the glass before bubble wrapping is a good start. I save all packaging that comes my way or I find outside shops etc. So usually have a supply of useful bits and pieces to use.

That is debatable. Is the artwork being shipped? If so, then it adds more weight and increased cost for shipping.
Normally, I think that the frame should be left up to the person buying the artwork. The person may not like the frame that you used for some reason.
I don't see why you could not offer both framed and unframed works of art.
