I have played the guitar since i was 13 years old, and consider myself fairly proficient. My Father is an excellent pianist, who has concentrated on playing Rachmaninov over the years, but encouraged me to have piano lessons at 11 years old. I have since been teaching myself over the years, only hindered by the invention of the synthesiser & computers which allows you to play a performance & then edit your mistakes !! Very useful for writing purposes but i would rather spend time perfecting a performance. I would love to be able to play the saxaphone but have struggled to even get a note out of most wind instruments !! I hope in my later years to be able to afford the time to play more real piano as i find it such a beautiful & expressive instrument. But after watching Vladimir Ashkenazy play Rachmaninov's piano concertos & Jools Holland play boogie ... i can only aspire to such excellence !
