CHOOSE WISELY
oil on canvas
Is the title of this painting and it something you find you have to do with every choice that is presented you.
When I started posting my paintings online I found that the biggest call for work revolved around my Animal Art. Other than portraits of people, it is the most personal that clients want to possess. Because my passion is in helping others with my artwork sales, and particularly shelter animals, it set me on that path to being known primarily for Animal Art.
You can't be a one note, however and I am happy to share other visions here.

I have a great love of still life and for a while I enjoyed painting mostly for myself. Those pieces still hang on my walls. Most I have exhibited, some have sold and I have also found that the smaller pieces, mostly florals, have found homes other than mine.

You still have to paint what you love and it helps if you really love it in case that baby never leaves home!
On the flip side...I have sold some paintings I wish I still owned and then I remind myself that at least they are being enjoyed somewhere and I can always make a print....but I never do.
Thank goodness for digital files. I get to revisit them from time to time.

This must be common to all artists I am sure. We won't even talk about the ones no one will ever see! LOL!
"Choosing Wisely" means tossing away some really bad ideas and not looking back. Lots of new ones on the horizon to explore.
