I was introduced to photography, about the age that most boys start getting in trouble. Yup you guessed it. I was about 12 or 13 .  Understand I was always hanging out in the art room. That's where the cool people were .

The Year book Editor of that year had come around the art room, trying to get someone to shoot some sports photos  for the Yearbook . I  ended up doing it basically to get out of class. I ended up having a blast.

Being in the part of Central NY where we were. There was always something beautiful to photograph. And I suppose out of the lack of not having a good friend. The camera became my silent partner. I took it everywhere..  I remember getting up rather early one Saturday morning, I had chores to do.   I noticed how the light made everything  look so incredibly. I think it was at that point, that I started pointing a camera towards nature subjects.

I used the school's camera up until I graduated , then I had to give up the camera. I was devastated it was as if I had lost my best friend.  Having looked around in some of the shops that sold cameras at that time. That was a vast amount of money they wanted for those  amazing tools. I ended up joining the US Air Force. And I remember getting my first check which turned out to be enough for my first Canon A1 35mm film camera.

All during this growth period of mine. I fell in love with the work of Biologist turned Nature photographer John Shaw his work was incredible

It was his photography that captured my heart . And help find a path to travel.

Do you enjoy the Outdoors?  Please let us know how !!
